What is recorded here

Castle Hill is a 5-metre-high motte castle beside Hanby Hall Farm, built during the Medieval period to guard the local manor. Its steep northern and eastern sides still rise above a partial ditch, while the southern earthwork has faded into memory. The mound may have worn a tower, a hall or a family banner, but no building survives to confirm the shape of that lost life.

The National Heritage List for England records Castle Hill: a motte castle 250m east of Hanby Hall Farm as a scheduled monument. The saved point comes from the centre supplied by the official record. Listing does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
