Castle Heather

Mount (copper)(period Unassigned)

What is recorded here

Castle Heather is a lost castle in Highland, Scotland, whose earthworks were destroyed by 1990. It may have been a monastery rather than a military keep, judging by the old name meaning a place of retreat. What remains is a farm field where a castle once stood, stripped of its walls but still carrying the shape of that earlier life.
Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Castle Heather as Mount (copper)(period Unassigned). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 100m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
