What is recorded here
Castle Grove is a ringwork 370m north-west of Elmdon church, a scheduled monument in Uttlesford, England. A ridge of earth may have risen there before written memory, enclosing a hall, a yard or a family’s defiant home. Men may have walked that circle at dusk, listening for horses or argument, while women carried water past doors now lost to soil. The groove remains because somebody built it to resist forgetting.
The National Heritage List for England records Castle Grove: a ringwork 370m north-west of Elmdon church as a scheduled monument. The saved point comes from the centre supplied by the official record. Listing does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
