Castle Forbes, Game Larder stands in Aberdeenshire as a 19th Century game larder, built to preserve the hunt's yield rather than display it. Its stones may have smelled of smoke, fat and river water while servants moved heavy pots through darkness. The larder served Forbes by turning killing into sustenance, and memory into hunger.
