Castle Duke rises above Teignbridge as a historic hill fort, though called a castle on public maps. The name suggests pride or rank, but the land holds no surviving tower, only the memory of height and watchfulness. Perhaps people once climbed it to see far, judge weather, or feel small beneath open sky. The duke may have been human, divine, or invented later to give the hill a story worth repeating.
