Lochside Park in Castle Douglas held a quoits ground from the late 19th Century to the mid 20th Century, marking the lawn where neighbours competed rather than watched distant games. King Street still stands beside that memory, carrying the town’s ordinary pride in skill and repetition. The exact boundary remains unclear, but the purpose is plain: people threw rings for pleasure before formal sports took over every spare hour.
