What is recorded here

Ernespie Road in Castle Douglas may have carried a second World War road block, though the possibility remains unproven. If concrete or metal barriers once stopped wheels there, they interrupted ordinary travel during a time when even small towns watched for danger. The road itself has survived that uncertainty, carrying cars and memory across the same Galloway ground.
Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Castle Douglas, Ernespie Road as Road Block (second World War)(possible). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
