Castle Ditches camp is a univallate Iron Age hillfort near Tisbury in Wiltshire, preserved as a scheduled monument because its earthworks still mark a deliberately defended landscape. Its single bank and ditch form a roughly circular enclosure on elevated ground, the kind of place where people may have watched roads, fields and approaching strangers long before written records arrived. Time has worn the edges, yet the shape remains visible enough to imagine lamps, arguments, fear and ordinary life moving inside a boundary built to exclude others.
