Castle Craig

Water Meadow (post Medieval)

What is recorded here

Castle Craig occupies a post-medieval water meadow in the Scottish Borders, yet it became the UK’s first private residential rehab clinic when Peter and Dr Margaret Ann McCann arrived in 1988. They brought twelve-step principles from Hazelden and Clouds House, forcing a region without residential addiction treatment to confront alcohol and drug destruction directly. The green basin now holds more than memory; it offers over ten thousand people a chance to leave devastation behind and build a sober life.
Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Castle Craig as Water Meadow (post Medieval). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
