What is recorded here

Castle Craig is an 18th-century country house in fifty acres of private parkland near Blyth Bridge, where people have gone to be released from addiction since 1988. The estate appears in a papal gift in 1170, the present house was built in 1798 for Sir John Gibson-Carmichael, and it has also been marked in the old land as a broch, a fort and a patera. Those are not rivals; they are layers. A place can be a border marker, a childhood school, a healing house and still be the same field of human attention.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Castle Craig as Broch (iron Age), Fort (period Unassigned), Patera (period Unassigned). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
