Castle Craig Hospital occupies an 18th-century country house in Peeblesshire where people go to break free from alcohol and drugs. Peter McCann and Dr Margaret Ann McCann opened Scotland's first residential 12-step rehabilitation clinic there in 1988, bringing medically supervised care into fifty acres of quiet parkland. The estate has witnessed more than eight centuries of human change, yet it still serves that same desperate purpose: helping damaged nerves and haunted memories find a way back to life.
