Castle Combe Racing Circuit sped through Wiltshire from 1954 to 1971, leaving behind programmes and papers that still capture the roar of engines and the sweat of drivers. It was a temporary thunderstorm of steel and fire in a quiet county, likely drawing crowds who tasted speed before returning home to ordinary roads. The circuit vanished, but its papers remain sharp enough to make phantom tyres hiss on memory.
