Castle Chalamine

Hut Circle (prehistoric)

What is recorded here

Castle Chalamine is a prehistoric hut circle in Glenelg, Highland, Scotland. It is no longer visible on modern maps, though it appeared on the 1876 Ordnance Survey sheet. The chamber may have held a family, a herdsman or a keeper of seasonal law. Its disappearance from later mapping does not erase the life that formed it.
Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Castle Chalamine as Hut Circle (prehistoric). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
