Castell Malgwyn Bridge 1; Castle Malgwyn

Bridge

What is recorded here

Castle Malgwyn is a Georgian house built around 1795 for Sir Benjamin Hammet, who closed the public road through his estate and forced people to use his new bridge. The house changed hands several times, became a hotel, and now works as a guest house. The bridge and road remain useful because they reveal how much one wealthy man believed he could reshape a town.
The National Monuments Record of Wales records Castell Malgwyn Bridge 1; Castle Malgwyn as Bridge from the Post Medieval period. The saved point comes from the official national record. Inclusion does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
