Castell Dinas Brân is a ruined medieval castle built in the 1260s by Gruffydd Maelor II on an Iron Age hillfort above Llangollen, abandoned in the 14th century. Its name may mean the crow's fortress, honour a lost prince, or simply describe the dark brook running at the hill's foot. The stone still stands on the hilltop, keeping the shape of a place whose identity has changed as often as the story told about it.
