What is recorded here
Castell Dinas Bran is a castle in Denbighshire, Wales, recorded under the broad General period. It stands as a castle and earthworks, the kind of place where stone and soil still hold the shape of human hands. Whether it guarded a valley, sheltered a family or marked a border, the earthworks suggest people lived there with purpose. The exact dates have faded, but the structure remains, waiting for someone to walk its line and imagine the lives it held.
The National Monuments Record of Wales records Castell Dinas Bran (Castle and Earthworks) as Castle from the General period. The saved point comes from the official national record. Inclusion does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
Built by Llywelyn the Great in the early 13th century, Castell Dinas Bran was an important Welsh medieval fortress overlooking the Conwy Valley. It is remembered as one of the last great Welsh hilltop castles before Edward I's conquest.
The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
