Castell Cynfal rises in Gwynedd as a Medieval motte, shaped by human hands into a castle mound rather than left to natural slope. Its name and form suggest a time when authority needed elevation, visibility and defensible ground. Even without surviving walls, the mound remains a claim made in earth: someone valued this place enough to rebuild the landscape around it.
