What is recorded here
Underground chambers in Magheracashel, built before Christ and destroyed, may have hidden people, tools or memory when storms raged above. The casHEL and its passages are no longer visible, but the earth there still remembers the shape of what was removed.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as CASHEL & Man-made underground passages (destroyed). Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
