Carncastle Historic Settlement in Ballygalley

Carncastle Historic Settlement

What is recorded here

Carncastle Historic Settlement in Ballygalley belongs to the post-medieval and eighteenth or nineteenth century, when ordinary life clustered around stone, soil and repeated labour. Its buildings may have stood close together, forcing neighbours to share noise, smoke and danger. That proximity turned a small place into a castle of human memory, strong enough to resist forgetting long after every wooden beam rotted and every stone surrendered its shape.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as Carncastle Historic Settlement. Recorded period: C18TH/C19TH; POST-MED. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
