Careston Castle is a 16th-century tower house in Angus, Scotland, built about 1582 by Sir Henry Lindsay. Its L-shaped plan still holds vaulted rooms, a bold stair, and chimney pieces modelled on designs from Jacques Androuet du Cerceau's Second livre. Two wings are gone, but the surviving halls, bedrooms and fireplaces keep the castle feeling like a proud household rather than a ruined shadow.
