Careg y Gath is a sea cliff composed primarily of Silurian greywacke, formed around 440–420 million years ago through sedimentation and subsequent lithification in an ancient marine environment. It is notable for its exposure of durable, coarse-grained sedimentary rock that provides insight into the geological history of west Wales.
