Carbisdale Castle, South Gateway stands in Sutherland, listed in 1971 and amended in 2013. The gate marks the entrance to a castle that has watched the Highland edge for generations. Carbisdale Castle, including its South Gateway, was built by the Keith family in the 17th century, with construction beginning around 1620. It is remembered as an example of Scottish Renaissance architecture and as the family seat of the Earls Marischal.
