This bronze commemorative plaque records: Craig's Close. Site of Cape Club. Spiritual home of Robert Fergusson distinguished Edinburgh poet. Died October 16th, 1774.
Robert Fergusson was a prominent Scottish poet from Edinburgh whose work significantly influenced later poets including Robert Burns. The Cape Club, located in Craig's Close, served as his spiritual home and gathering place for literary figures of the time.
