Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Cantlayhills as Cairnfield (later Prehistoric). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

A cairnfield dating to the later prehistoric period; its significance lies in representing collective burial or ritual practices of early farming communities in the Scottish landscape.
