What is recorded here

Caisteal Nan Con stands within a prehistoric fort on a promontory above the Sound of Mull, where a seventeenth-century tower house still casts its shadow across much older defences. The castle of the dogs has lost most of its walls, yet its sandstone fireplace and ruined stair tower remain embedded in the hill. It may have served Allan M'Ean vic Ewin MacLean before falling into dereliction, while the fort beneath it reaches back into darkness older than memory.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Caisteal Nan Con as Fort (period Unassigned), Tower House (medieval). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
