Danby Rigg carries a cairnfield and ring cairn thirty-three metres south west of Danby Castle, marked as a scheduled monument in North Yorkshire. Stones may have gathered there for burial, boundary or ceremony before written memory, while the castle rose later to watch the same ridge. The listing protects the remains rather than inviting casual handling, yet the hill still asks whether people placed each stone deliberately or simply followed a line already visible in the rock.
