What is recorded here
An Chathair Bhán is a white fairy fort on a low Kerry hill, its collapsed wall thirty metres across and buried under grass. A galvanized hayshed now stands inside the ancient circle, turning human shelter into a jest against the forgotten builders. The outer face has vanished entirely while the inner stone reappears in patches, suggesting the fort keeps giving back only what it chooses to reveal.

Caherbaun/An Chathair Bhán: This ruined caher, located on top of a low hill, survives as a circular area enclosed by a collapsed wall. The wall is heavily overgrown, averaging 3.5m wide and up to 1m high above external ground level. The outer wall-face is completely obscured and the inner face, where exposed, appears to have been rebuilt. It is not clear if the modern entrance located at N occupies the site of the original entrance. A galvanised hayshed is located in the centre of the disturbed interior of the caher.
The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J. Sheehan (compilers), 'The Iveragh peninsula: an archaeological survey of South Kerry'. Cork University Press (1996), no. 555. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
