The Scarweather Lightship was a 19th-century lightvessel stationed off the Welsh coast to warn ships of the dangerous Scarweather reef. It was lost in 1885 during a severe storm, resulting in the deaths of all 11 crew members; its loss highlighted the need for improved maritime safety measures and contributed to later advancements in lighthouse and buoy systems.
