Burnt spread in Knockeen (trughanacmy By.)

Burnt spread

What is recorded here

Knockeen holds a small burnt circle where black soil still marks the ground. The surrounding earth turned fire-red before settling into a thin dark ring. Whatever happened there stopped suddenly, leaving a shape instead of a story.
A subcircular area of blackened soil (0.68m NW-SE; 0.6m NE-SW; D 0.12m) surrounded by a 0.5-0.7m thick deposit of fire-reddened black soil (Sherlock 2002, 138).

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
