Burnt spread in Curraghmacdonagh (trughanacmy By., Ballymacelligott Par.)

'This burnt spread was situated in a wet and marshy field on the immediate north side of the main Tralee/ Killarney roadway.All that remains of this site is a scattered spread of burnt stone and charcoal which has been dug from the ground during the excavation of a large sump-like pond connected with the nearby Ballyseedy Garden Centre. The dimensions of the burnt spread was approximately 2.00m N-S by 2.00m E-W. This is unlikely to represent the true dimensions of the site, and is probably the remnants of just one JCB bucketful. Other isolated pockets of burnt red sandstone are to be found through the resultant spoil heap from the digging of this sump.'
