This is the record for a burnt spread excavated by Brendán Ó Riordáin (97E0083) on the Arklow bypass road scheme. It consisted of an area c. 4m x c. 4m which contained burnt stone and charcoal and patches of grey and yellow marl. (Ó Riordáin 1999) Compiled by: Denis Power Date of upload: 25 January 2013

Burnt mound, likely dating to the Neolithic or Early Bronze Age. It represents a domestic or ritual heat-related activity site, common in prehistoric Ireland.
