What is recorded here

Knockauntarriff holds two burial mounds and an enclosure, yet the northern mound resisted mapping until 1897. Westropp measured ten to thirteen feet of rise on the east side in 1919, while a fence and plantation marked the border beside Mitchelstowndown North. The southern mound sits four metres away, and the enclosure waits eighteen metres northeast. Grass has since thickened across the summit, softening the edges that surveyors once drew.
In pasture on the summit of Knockauntarriff, immediately E of townland boundary with Mitchelstowndown North. An enclosure (LI041-013006-) lies 18m to the NE and a mound (LI041-013003-) lies 4m to the S. Not marked on the 1840 ed. OSi 6-inch map. Depicted on the 1897 ed. OSi 25-inch map as a small oval shaped platform (dims. c. 4.5m N-S x 7m E-W) defined by a scarp. Described by Westropp (1919, 14) as the northern of two mounds measuring ‘from 10 feet [3m] to 13 feet [3.9m] high to the east, and 5 feet [1.5m] to 6 feet [1.8m] high to the west. A fence has been made between them, and the northern is in the long ‘screen’ or plantation on the border of Mitchelstown Down.’ The area of the monument is overgrown on Digital Globe orthoimage taken between 2011-13 and on Google Earth orthoimages.
