In 1975, construction work near Ballymoe brought up human bones resting in shallow boulder clay, likely a crouched burial from an older time. The person had been laid out without a stone or wooden box, trusting the heavy ground to hold them. That much is known; the rest belongs to imagination. Perhaps they were young, perhaps they were loved, perhaps the field above them has forgotten their name while the clay beneath still remembers the shape they made.

During construction work in 1975, a number of human bones were discovered 30m NW of ringfort (GA018-063----). They were found at a depth of 0.4m and reputedly rested on or in a shallow pit in the underlying boulder clay (Topgr. Files, UCG). Possibly the remains of a crouched burial in an unlined pit.
