Marianne and Darach lost their first child at Cruach Na Cara. They walked the shore at low tide, searching for a place deep enough for love but shallow enough for memory. They found a hollow beneath the cliff edge, lined it with flat stones, and buried the small body before darkness took the field. Years later, rain opened the hollow again. They did not cover it or leave it exposed. They placed one stone across the top, enough to keep the wind out but not enough to hide what the sea had returned.

Discovered during field-walking after the January/February 2014 storms (pers. comm. M. Gibbons). Eroding out of a low (H 1.5m) stepped, sand and peaty E-face just above a smooth bedrock shore c. 58m SE of St. MacDara’s Church (GA076-020001-) and ‘below’ the cross slab (GA076-020008-) overlooking the landing area. Two burials were noted; one comprising a pelvis and the second, some 0.7m to the S, two long-bones.
