What is recorded here
Described by Cahill and Sikora (2011, ii, 512) as follows: 'In 1990 human remains were discovered during underwater surveying work by the Garda Underwater Unit around Cottage Island in Lough Gill. No details are known as to the disposition of the remains. The human remains (NMI No. 1990:95) were located at the SE end of the island. Two wooden boats were also located in a follow up survey of the lake bed around the island. A dug-out canoe was located off the S shore close to where the human remains were found, and a plank-built boat was located off the northern shore. The SMR records a church (SL015-094001-) and a possible enclosure (SL015-094002-) at the SE end of the island.'
