What is recorded here

No visible grave remains, only a possible cairn on a bog ridge beside Knocknagorraveela Mountain. A croppy's grave was recorded there, naming a young republican buried after 1700 when French-style hair and forbidden ideas met in Kerry. The land kept the name while it took back the shape of the man, leaving behind a ridge, a story and the risk of forgetting.

In rough pasture, on a bog, on a level area of a ridge leading SE to Knocknagorraveela Mountain. B. Ó Cíobháin recorded a 'croppy's grave' here (SMR file). 'Croppy' was a term used in the 1790s to refer to Irish republicans who cropped their hair in a French style. This burial would therefore date to the period after 1700AD. There are no visible remains of this grave. It is associated with a possible cairn (KE101-049001-).
