What is recorded here

On top of a high cliff-edge in an area known locally as the 'Hermit's Garden'. According to local information, a monk is said to have been buried here but there are no visible remains of this burial. It is said locally that a cross-slab marked the grave but that it was moved in the 1900s to Killemlagh graveyard (KE096-009003-), c. 4km to the SE where it marks a family grave. This is probably the cross-inscribed stone (KE096-009002-) described by O'Sullivan and Sheehan (1996, 360) as covering a tomb.
