An Mhuiríoch, or Cill Maoilchéadar, marks a buried church and graveyard hidden beneath a modern basketball pitch near Murreagh. Graves emerged in the sandy ground where children now jump and run, suggesting the court sits directly upon ancestral remains. The clash between playful sport and quiet death creates an odd tension: every bounce of the ball may land on forgotten bones. Local memory preserves what development erased, keeping the sacred ground alive through ordinary use rather than formal protection.
