Granite boulders still mark graves beside an early Christian church in County Galway, scattered north and east of a leacht rather than aligned in neat rows. The stones have surrendered their shapes to moss and time, hiding the exact boundaries of the dead while preserving the fact that they were buried there. It is a quiet, resistant place where memory has become geology, and the living must imagine the hands that once arranged them.

Within an enclosure (GA076-011003-) associated with an early Christian church (GA076-011001-). Overgrown granite boulders mark the graves and concentrations are visible immediately to the N of the church and to the N and E of a leacht (GA076-011005-), which is visible c. 7m to the N of the church. No boulders were evident in the area between the leacht and church where granite bedrock protrudes. It was not possible to define the alignment of the graves due to the scattered nature of the boulders. Compiled by: Olive Alcock Date of upload 28 April 2014
