Burial ground in Shandangan West

Burial ground

What is recorded here

Páirc na Phollaigh, or Field of the Holes, marked a famine burial ground on a Shandangan West hill where small upright stones stood visible until development erased them. The land swallowed its own witness, leaving behind a void that demands imagination rather than evidence.
According to local information this hill was the location of a famine burial ground known as Páirc na Phollaigh (Field of the Holes). Small unmarked upright stones were reported to be visible on the hill slope before land development in the 1960s and 70s removed all surface trace.
