What is recorded here
Kilmartin is an unlocated burial ground in County Laois, Ireland. Local memory claims the dead once lay beneath what is now cultivated soil, and that the site can still be pointed out. The graveyard has vanished from every map and marker, yet human life may have shaped the land long before the fields took it back.
Unlocated graveyard within townland described in the OS letters as 'It is said by the people that there was formerly a burial place in Kilmartin townland, the site of which is still pointed out, though under cultivation; it is noticed in the Name Book' (O'Flanagan 1933, vol. 1, p. 47).
