According to local tradition, crossroads known as "crossnaleanbh". Grassy triangle in centre of junction was said to be place of burial; this area now tarred over. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 3: Mid Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997).
