Burial ground

What is recorded here

Situated on top of a natural ridge in undulating countryside. Appears as a natural ridge with no evidence of any archaeological activity. Local farmer informed us that he found a skeleton several years ago while digging on the ridge. According to local information this is the site of a famine burial ground. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Offaly' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 23 May 2011
