Burial Gd. for Children lies immediately south of the church in County Galway, a narrow irregular strip where haphazard set stones mark graves and cut fragments from the adjoining church intrude into the death bed. The north edge holds a field wall while the southeast fades into a grassed-over stony bank, creating a cramped boundary around many small losses. Children likely died young in that area, their bodies placed quickly beneath stones salvaged or taken from the church above. The ground remains odd and tender because sacred material and child mortality share the same narrow soil.
