Burial Gd

On S side of Ballyfeard village, sub-rectangular (50m E-W; 40m N-S) graveyard enclosed by stone wall to W and N (part of N wall recently removed) and by stone-faced earthen bank to E and S, bank curves at SE corner. Still in use, earliest noted headstones date to 1860s. Plaque on gateway in N wall with date 1783 but writing illegible (see similar plaque CO112-04201- & CO112-00501-). Once contained parish church of Ballyfeard which was in ruins by 1615 (Brady 1863, vol. 1, 27) and described as 'almost level with the ground' in 1704 (ibid., 28), by 1860 there was no trace of it in the graveyard (ibid., 29).
