Bun an Uillt

Bay

What is recorded here

Bun an Uillt is a coastal rock feature composed of metamorphic Lewisian gneiss, one of the oldest rock formations in Scotland, dating back to the Precambrian era (around 3 billion to 1.7 billion years ago). These rocks formed through high-pressure and high-temperature metamorphism of ancient igneous and sedimentary rocks, and are notable for their durability and role in the geological foundation of the Outer Hebrides.
