Crookstown still keeps a possible bullaun stone beside a field boundary, not far from an early graveyard and church. Whether it marked prayer, ownership or exclusion has been forgotten, but the stone still lies where people can see it.

A possible bullaun stone (CO083-161----) was found lying along a field boundary, and reported to NMS in April 2021. It is located in the village of Crookstown, in pasture, on private land. Its original location is unknown, however, it may be associated with the early graveyard and church located c. 50m to the NE of the field where it is currently located (CO083-075001- and CO083-075002-). A bullaun stone, likely dating to the early Christian period, often used for ritual or symbolic purposes, possibly associated with holy wells or saintly traditions. Such stones may have been used for anointing or as markers of sacred sites.
