Bullaun

Bullaun stone (present location)

What is recorded here

Bullaun is a missing stone in County Clare, recorded on maps and buried beneath memory. It may have stood beside a ringfort, marking water, warning or belonging before people stopped looking. What is lost is not nothing; it is the part the land keeps from pretending to remember.
Listed as ‘Bullaun stone’ in the SMR (1992) and the RMP (1996) and named ‘Bullaun’ on the 1920 OS 6-inch map at ITM 542048, 682583. The present location of the bullaun is unknown. For original location at a ringfort c. 250 SW of the above see CL026-103001-. Compiled by: Mary Tunney Date of upload: 21 October 2014
