Freestanding drag edged tooled cut-limestone cross, erected 1930. Set on tooled cut-limestone stepped base.
A cross erected by Peter Foy (----), 'Stone Cutter' (NA 1901; NA 1911), representing an integral component of the built heritage of Cong [SMR MA120-053006-]. NOTE: The present cross is the third to stand on the site with an earlier cross (1822) 'broken by the collision of a motor car' (ITA 1945); and 'an ancient cross' (1350) 'removed as it was regarded as an obstruction to the thoroughfare' (Wilde 1867, 185-6).
