Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Bucklerhole as Tower House (medieval). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Bucklerhole Tower House was built in the late medieval period, likely by a local landholding family in the Scottish Borders region. It is remembered as a small defensive structure reflecting the turbulent history of the borderlands during frequent conflicts between England and Scotland.
